Review Policy
Effective date: October 23, 2026
Reviews on Business Near Me come from people who confirmed their email address. These rules follow the Federal Trade Commission's rule on fake reviews and testimonials.
Who Can Review
- Anyone who was a real customer of the business, or who dealt with it directly.
- One review per person per business. You can edit yours; we keep the earlier versions.
- Not owners, employees, family members of owners, or anyone with a business relationship with the company, about that company or its competitors.
What's Not Allowed
- Reviews that were paid for, or exchanged for discounts, gifts, free work or anything else of value.
- Reviews written by or for the business, or posted under someone else's name.
- Personal information about anyone (phone numbers, home addresses, health details).
- Hate speech, harassment, threats or obscene content.
- Content that's about something other than your experience with the business.
For Business Owners
- You can reply publicly to any review and report reviews that break these rules. You can't edit, hide or delete reviews.
- Ask your customers for honest reviews, but don't offer anything in return, don't ask only happy customers, and don't pressure anyone to change a review.
- We never remove a review because it's negative, and paid plans have no effect on reviews or ratings.
How We Moderate
We look at every reported review. If it breaks these rules we remove it and keep a record of why; otherwise it stays up. Ratings shown on listings are calculated only from reviews on this site. If you think we got a decision wrong, email contact@businessnearme.info.
